English… …simple
Jedina knjiga koja govori…
Evo kako izgleda i zvuči jedna (četvrta) lekcija iz knjige “English… …simple”.

04 Getting around
I worked hard for six months before I got a promotion, so one more perk comes with it – a paid vacation. I decided to visit New York, but before I do that I have to get my passport renewed. I need my ID for that, and $50 for the tax. I will also have my photo taken at the police station, so I need a haircut too.
The hair salon is not too far, but I prefer to drive because it would take me about half an hour to get there on foot. I’ll meet my friend Suzy at the salon and she’s going to go with me to the police station to make me company, but she doesn’t know where the salon is and I have to explain her. I’ll call her now.
Suzy: Hi Mike.
Mike: Hello Suzy. What are you doing? Can you talk?
S: Yes, I can. Tell me.
M: I wanted to explain how to find that hair salon. Is the deal still on?
S: Yes, I’m going with you.
M: So listen. When you leave your house turn left and go straight. Just count the traffic lights. Make a left again at the third traffic light and keep on walking for about 100 meters and you’ll see a huge building on the left. It’s the tallest building in the neighborhood so you can’t miss it. Right opposite that building is the salon. Did you understand?
S: Yes, I did. Exit the house, turn left and left again at the third traffic light, continue walking until I see a very high building and the salon is on the right!?
M: Yes, that’s all correct. I’ll see you there in 20 minutes.
S: See you…
M: Hi again Suzy. Nice to see you!
S: What’s up? You look nervous.
M: I’m not. I’m just stupid. I only brought $50 for the passport, but I forgot to bring the money for the haircut. Do you have any money?
S: No, I don’t. I only have my debit card.
M: Can you do me a favor then? Please drive my car to the nearest ATM, withdraw $20, and come back to the salon. I would go with you, but I have an appointment here and I can’t be late. Do you know where that ATM is?
S: No, I don’t.
M: Drive down this street for about 1 kilometer and you’ll see a roundabout. Take the third exit and park on the sidewalk. Cross the street and you’ll see a bank and the ATM in front of it. Here’s my card and the PIN is there. Thank you so much.
S: You’re so welcome. See you very soon.
